Tonight is Week 4 of the High School Football season, and the North Posey Vikings travel to Tell City for a 7:00 PM kickoff. The Vikings are 3-0 and the Marksmen are also 3-0 overall. Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan have the radio call this evening on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com.
Mt. Vernon Football is also on the road tonight as they take on South Spencer at 7:00 PM. Both teams are in search of their first win as the Wildcats and Rebels are 0-3. You can listen to the game with Chris Cooke and Allen Buck on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com.

Mt. Vernon River Days begins today in downtown Mt. Vernon. The two-day community festival is today and tomorrow. Today’s highlights include the opening ceremony at 11:00 AM, the Smoke on the Ohio Barbecue Competition, live music throughout the day, and a fireworks show at 9:00 PM. Tomorrow’s events start with the River Days 5K Run at 8:00 AM. Saturday also features a Classic Car Show, a Tractor Display, a Corn Hole Tournament, more Barbecue Competition, and a Talent Show. The festival’s annual parade, which this year is honoring first responders and remembering 9/11, is set for 4:00 PM on Saturday. Live music continues Saturday evening, and the Mt. Vernon River Days concludes at 8:00 PM on Saturday.

The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is less than a month away, and now is the time to save some money on the rides. The Nut Club is offering pre-sale, all-you-can-ride wristband vouchers for $25 each through October 4th. After that, the price goes up to $30. There is a service fee for online purchases, but it’s charged just once, regardless of how many vouchers you buy. Once you make your purchase, simply bring the voucher to the ticket booth at the Fall Festival to redeem it for a wristband. The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival takes over Franklin Street October 5th-10th.
Last night in local high school sports, North Posey Volleyball won in straight sets at Memorial. The Vikings improve to 8-4 on the season.
North Posey Boys Soccer won at Pike Central, 3-0. The Vikings are 2-5 overall.
North Posey Girls Soccer lost at Wood Memorial, 3-2. The Vikings record is 1-7.
In local college sports on Thursday, USI Women’s Soccer won at Cleveland State University, 1-0. It was the Screaming Eagles’ first win of the season as they are 1-5-2 on the season.
Evansville Volleyball picked up their first victory of the year as they won in four sets at Tennessee State. The Purple Aces are 1-7 overall.
Evansville Women’s Soccer lost at Middle Tennessee State, 3-1. The Purple Aces fall to 2-2-1.
From Major League Baseball on Thursday, the St. Louis Cardinals had the day off. They are back at home tonight after a 9-game road trip. The Cardinals welcome the Chicago White Sox for a 3-game series at 7:15 PM. The Cardinals have lost 3-straight games and are 72-75 on the season. The White Sox have also lost 3-straight games and are 75-71 on the year. Chicago is still in first place in the American League Central, as their lead over the Cleveland Guardians is 1.5 games.
The Chicago Cubs were also off yesterday and start a 3-game set at home vs the Pittsburgh Pirates this afternoon at 1:20 PM. The Cubs are looking to end a 4-game losing streak as they are 81-66 overall. They are in the second wild card spot in the National League and 1 game behind the Phillies for the top wild card position. Chicago’s cushion for a playoff spot is 3 games.
The Cincinnati Reds enjoyed Thursday off too. The Reds are in Milwaukee tonight to battle the Brewers in a 3-game series at 6:45 PM. Cincinnati hopes to end a 3-game losing streak. The Reds are 69-77.
