It was a busy weekend for Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball as they played a pair of games on Saturday in the Carmi White County Tournament. In the first game on Saturday, the Wildcats took care of Day School, 64-37. Then in the night cap, Mt. Vernon fell to Carmi, 58-53. They went 3-1 in the tournament and the Wildcats overall record on the season is 8-7. Mt. Vernon will play at Tell City on Friday and then host Pike Central on Saturday.

Coming up this evening on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com, it’s the Mt. Vernon Basketball Coaches Show. It will start at 6:00 PM and will be broadcast live at United Fidelity Bank in Mt. Vernon with Allen Buck and Wildcats Head Coach Joe Newcomb.

 

North Posey Boys Basketball was able to clip Washington at home on Saturday, 51-50. The Vikings improve to 11-2 on the year as they have now won 4-straight games. They are home again tonight against South Spencer at 7:00 PM. This game is the make up game from this past Friday that was postponed due to weather. Chris Morlan will have the radio broadcast on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com.

 

The Girls High School Basketball regular season is winding down as this is the final week of the regular season. Yesterday, the IHSAA released the sectional brackets. The postseason begins a week from Tuesday. Mt. Vernon will play in the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Boonville and the Wildcats drew Bosse the first game of the Sectional on Tuesday night. The Wildcats are 2-19 on the year and have one regular season game left on Tuesday at home against Wood Memorial at 6:30 PM.

North Posey Girls Basketball plays in the Class 2A Sectional 48 at South Spencer and the Vikings will play Crawford County in the first round. They will play the second game of the evening next Tuesday. North Posey is 8-13 and they have two games left in their regular season as they take on South Spencer on the road tomorrow night and then host Forest Park on Thursday.

 

The Posey County Job Fair is coming up later this week. It will take place on Thursday at the Posey County Community Center. It will be open for high school students from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM and the general public from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. We have been told that the Job Fair is maxed out with 32 employers planning to be on site.
