The 3rd annual Poseyville Kiwanis Scholarship Ride is this Saturday, June 24th. Start and finish of the ride will be at the Poseyville Community Center, located at 60 N Church Street in Poseyville. Signups start at 9:30 AM and the first rider out will be at 10:30 AM. The prize will be awarded at 4:00 PM. Cost is 20 dollars per-rider.

 

St. Francis Church in Poseyville is having a Chops and Cheers event this Saturday, June 24th. Mass begins at 4:30 PM with the meal and music to follow at 5:00 PM. You must be at least 21 years of age to attend. Food, live music, and the beer garden is 20 dollars per-person. The planned menu includes pork chops, cheesy potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, roll, homemade dessert, and drink. Carry-out is available. If you want the beer garden only, the cost is 5 dollars per-person. The live music will be provided by JB and The Tried-and-True Band.

 

Tomorrow is another Poseyville Farmer’s Market event at the Poseyville Community Center. The event will be from 4:00-7:00 PM every Tuesday through August. Several vendor booths will be available, and entertainment is provided by H-Bomb Entertainments.  

 

Traffic alert for drivers in Posey County, the Posey County Emergency Management announced late last week that State Road 66 is now back open. The bridge work has been completed. State Road 68, between Poseyville and New Harmony is still under construction.

 

Qdoba Restaurant is opening a new location on the West Side of Evansville, following the closing of Ghost Quesadilla. The restaurant is set to be at 5501 Pearl Drive near Osaka Japanese Hibachi and Sushi. There is currently only one other location in Evansville on North Burkhardt Road. While the date for the opening has not been confirmed, preparations for the new restaurant are underway. Store representatives are scheduled to appear before the Area Plan Commission's Site Review Committee this week.

 

Sports

  • The St. Louis Cardinals (29-43) play for a 3rd-straight win as they open a 3-game series in Washington against the Nationals at 3:05 PM. Catch the game on 106.7 FM WMVI.

 

  • The Chicago Cubs (33-38) begin a series in Pittsburgh vs the Pirates at 6:05 PM.  

 

  • The Cincinnati Reds (37-35) winners of 8-straight games return home to face the Rockies at 6:10 PM.

 

  • The Chicago White Sox (31-42) play host to the Texas Rangers at 7:10 PM.
