A 31-year-old Evansville man is facing multiple felony charges following a domestic violence investigation in Posey County. Posey County deputies say Seth Lile was taken into custody early Sunday morning after a search that lasted several hours. According to deputies, officers were dispatched shortly after 2:30 Sunday morning to a home in the South Caborn Road area for a welfare check. The caller told authorities he was concerned a woman might be in a violent situation and said she had asked him to contact police. When deputies arrived, the woman told them she had a restraining order against Lile and that he had forced his way into her home. Investigators say Lile assaulted the woman, leaving her with serious injuries, before leaving the scene. Deputies searched the surrounding area with assistance from Black Township Fire and Rescue. A Vanderburgh County K-9 unit also assisted in the search, but Lile was not initially located. The search continued and around 4:57 Sunday morning, dispatchers received a report of a man walking on private property near Darnell School Road and Ford Road. The activity had been captured on a trail camera. A short time later, a Posey County deputy reported seeing a man believed to be Lile walking through a field near Carson School Road and Lower Mount Vernon Road. Deputies responded and took Lile into custody. He was transported to the Posey County Jail.
A fundraiser has been set up to help cover funeral and memorial expenses for a 43-year-old woman found dead inside a Stewartsville home a little over a week ago. The GoFundMe, organized by family members of Chasity Harnishfeger, will help pay for funeral services and a headstone. The fundraiser organizer says the family had no time to prepare for the sudden expenses and is trying to navigate the loss while honoring Chasity's memory. Harnishfeger's body was discovered inside a home on Main Street in Stewartsville on the night of October 25th. Authorities have since filed murder charges against 54-year-old Paul D. Harnishfeger Senior and issued an arrest warrant. Authorities are continuing to search for Paul Harnishfeger Senior. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Posey County Regional Dispatch Center at 812-838-1320.
More than 10,000 people visited The Wall That Heals during its weeklong stop at the University of Southern Indiana. The traveling memorial came down Sunday afternoon, wrapping up an event that began with a motorcycle and first-responder escort from Newburgh to the USI campus on Tuesday. More than 60 volunteers helped dismantle the exhibit around 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoon. The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It's 375 feet long and stands seven-and-a-half feet tall at its highest point. The wall bears the names of 58,281 service members who died during the Vietnam War. Visitors had the opportunity to make rubbings of individual names, while a mobile education center featured a Hometown Heroes display highlighting those on the wall with local connections. USI officials say Evansville was the third-to-last stop of the memorial's 2026 tour, which included 31 communities. University officials thank the donors, organizations and volunteers who helped make the visit possible, including the Woods and Woods Veterans' Fund, which provided support throughout the week.
