News:

A newly released affidavit is shedding more light on a weekend murder investigation in Posey County. According to court documents, deputies were called to the 4100 block of Main Street for a welfare check after a caller reported that Chasity Harnishfeger and Paul Harnishfeger, Senior, had not been heard from since the previous night. The caller also told authorities the couple had been acting worrisomely. According to the affidavit, Paul had suspected Chasity of cheating and allegedly told her that if he found solid proof, he would kill her, the man she was cheating with, and himself. Deputies contacted another family member to gain access to the home. When they opened a bedroom door, they found Chasity dead on the floor. Authorities searched the home for Paul, but he was nowhere to be found. The affidavit states Chasity's death was consistent with intentionally inflicted traumatic injuries. However, the document does not specify an exact cause of death. Investigators also collected a phone with a red substance that appeared to be blood. The phone was later confirmed to belong to Paul. According to authorities, Paul Harnishfeger, Senior, has not been heard from by immediate family members, and his whereabouts remain unknown. The search for Paul is ongoing. Authorities consider him armed and dangerous.
