The North Posey Vikings Football team won the Class 2A Sectional 40 Championship game this past Friday night. The Vikings beat Paoli at home, 35-14. North Posey improves to 11-1 on the year and will play in the Regionals. They will travel to Triton Central on Friday for a 6:30 PM kickoff. Triton Central is also 11-1 on the season.

Coming up tonight at 5:30 PM on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com…it’s the North Posey Football Coaches Show. Jordan Fisher will host the show live from the Wheelhouse along with Vikings Head Coach Waylon Schenk.

 

Over the weekend, we all set our clocks back one hour. The Mt. Vernon Fire Department is reminding the community to make sure you change your Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. They say two of three home fire deaths result from fires in homes with no smoke alarm. You should install alarms in every bedroom, outside of every interior door, and on every floor of your home.

 

Froggy’s Restaurant and Sports Bar says they will be donating 10% of their sales to local fire departments on Thursdays this month. Thursday November 9th will be for the Poseyville Fire Department, Thursday November 16th is for the Cynthiana Fire Department, and then Thursday November 30th will be for the Wadesville Fire Department. Froggy’s encourages the community to come out on these dates and help support the local volunteer firefighters.

 

College Basketball season tips off tonight across the nation and locally several teams are in action this evening. The Evansville Purple Aces Men’s Basketball team is home at Ford Center as they welcome in the RedHawks of Miami (Ohio) for a 7:00 PM tipoff. USI Men’s Basketball starts their season on the road at Saint Louis at 7:00 PM.

On the Women’s Side, USI is home on campus against Wright State at 7:00 PM tonight. Tomorrow night, the Evansville Purple Aces Women’s team will host Lipscomb on campus at 6:00 PM.

 

Sports from Sunday, it was Week 9 of the NFL regular season, and the Colts were able to snap a 3-game skid as they beat the Panthers in Carolina, 27-13. Kenny Moore had two pick 6’s for the Colts defense. Indy improves to 4-5 on the year. They will play the Patriots next week in Germany.

The Chicago Bears got beat again in New Orleans against the Saints, 24-17. Bears fall to 2-7 on the season. It’s a quick turnaround for Chicago as they host the Panthers on Thursday Night Football this week.

The Green Bay Packers cruised past the Los Angeles Rams at home, 20-3. The Packers are now 3-5 and will travel to Pittsburgh on Sunday.

The Tennessee Titans played on Thursday Night Football this past week and lost on the road to the Steelers, 20-16. Tennessee is 3-5 and will head to Tampa Bay to face the Bucs on Sunday.

From the NBA…the Indiana Pacers were off on Sunday, but they are back in action tonight at home against the San Antonio Spurs at 6:00 PM. The Pacers are 3-3 on the young season.
