The Gibson County Coroner has revealed the cause of death for a Toyota employee who was pronounced dead following an incident on Monday. Officials say 49-year-old Thierno Balde of Evansville died of blunt force trauma. The coroner said the results of the autopsy are pending toxicology reports. Details about the incident have not been released by the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office. 

 

The University of Evansville broke ground on the site of the future Lincoln Common student apartment complex for students today. U.E. President Christopher Pietruszkiewicz along with Evansville Mayor, Lloyd Winnecke and other community leaders were on hand for the event. The four-story building located on campus at the corner of Weinbach Avenue and Lincoln Avenue will house approximately 123 upperclassman students when completed in the fall of 2024.

 

Cancer Pathways Midwest is offering cancer screenings tonight at the Cancer Pathways Midwest building along Vogel Rd, in Evansville. The event starts at 5:30 this evening. They will be assessing people’s risk for hereditary cancer. Those who meet the criteria will be offered an appointment for genetic counseling and testing.

 

We are less than 2 weeks away from the Annual Posey County FOP Golf Scramble. It will take place on Monday, August 21st at Western Hills Country Club. They are offering a morning and an afternoon flight. The morning flight tees off at 7:30 AM and the afternoon flight tees off at 1:00 PM. Claim your spot while they last. It is 75 dollars a person, or $300 for the team.

 

The Mt. Vernon M-Club will be holding their annual picnic and fundraiser on Saturday August 26th at the Country Mark Golf Course and Pavilion. Golf teams will have a shotgun start at 7:30 AM. Golf will cost 65 dollars per person, which will include M-Club dues and lunch after golf. You can contact M-Club President Scott Mitchell at 812-550-0153 to reserve your golf foursome. Lunch and raffles will start at 11:30 AM. The lunch is catered by Hawg-N-Sauce. If you are not golfing, the lunch will be 15 dollars per person and M-Club dues of 20 dollars will be collected at the event.

 

Coming up tomorrow night it is Scrimmage time for High School Football teams across the Tri-State. Mt. Vernon will scrimmage Harrison at home and North Posey will scrimmage Washington at home. Then a week from Friday (August 18th) it is week 1 of the season and North Posey will travel to Mt. Vernon. The scrimmages will not be broadcasted on the radio, but we will have all the Mt. Vernon Football games this year on 106.7 FM WMVI and the North Posey Football games on 98.9 FM WPIW. They can also be heard online at poseycountyradio.com.
