The Purdue Boilermakers postseason run came up one game short as they fell in the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament last night in Glendale, Arizona. Purdue lost to UCONN, 75-60 as the Huskies won back-to-back championships. It is their 6th championship in program history, and they are the first team to win back-to-back championships since Florida in 2006 and 2007. Zach Edey had 37 points and 10 rebounds as Purdue’s season ends as the national runner-up and with a 34-5 record.
North Posey High School shared a posted on Facebook that Milk and Sugar is having a giveback day tomorrow and 25 percent of sales will be donated back to North Posey BPA. Parker Settlement and Franklin Street locations will be participating in this giveback. Two North Posey BPA students have qualified for the national contest in Chicago. This giveback will help pay for the students’ expenses.
Officials say construction equipment will be delivered throughout the next few weeks to begin constructing a large-scale solar energy project in Posey County. The renewable energy company Arevon is leading the project. Once completed, the solar farm will be used by CenterPoint Energy. The farm is expected to be operational for 35 years.
Newlife Rescue and Adoption is facing a shortage of essential supplies necessary to maintain the well-being of the animals in their care. They say items that are needed include Purina Adult Dog Food, Alondra High Efficiency Laundry Detergent, Disinfectant for Laundry, Nitrile Examination Gloves, and Purina Kitten Chow. They ask the community to consider donating any of the just mentioned items to the shelter. Operating hours for Newlife Rescue and Adoption is 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM Monday though Wednesday, as well as Friday. They are also operating on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

From Major League Baseball the St. Louis Cardinals continue their 3-game series at home with the Philadelphia Phillies at 6:45 PM. The Redbirds lost the opener last night 5-3 in 10 innings. Sonny Gray makes his first start on the mound tonight in a St. Louis uniform. The Cardinals are 5-6 on the year.
In the NBA…the Indiana Pacers head to Toronto to face the Raptors at 6:30 PM. Indiana is 45-34 and has just 3 games left in the regular season. They are currently in 6th place in the Eastern Conference Standings. The Pacers are trying to avoid the play-in tournament and need to be in the top 6 to do that. They have a game lead on the 76ers and a game and a half lead on the Heat. Indiana owns the tiebreaker over both teams.
