The Posey County 911 Regional Dispatch office is now accepting applications and resumes for two Part Time Dispatchers positions. Applicants need to have flexible availability for weekends and swing shifts, as well as be able to dedicate at least 32 hours a week during 12 weeks of training. They say this part-time position could lead to a full-time position if one were to become available. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED. Candidates must be able to type forty words per minute, handle many tasks, and have excellent communication skills. Applicants must be able to pass a background check. If you would like an application, you can obtain one at the Dispatch Office 305 Mill Street, Mt. Vernon, IN Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, or can be e-mailed to 911dispatch@poseycountyin.gov. Applications are being be accepted until 8:00 AM on Wednesday, December 27th.

Posey County Fairgrounds and Community Events Center posted on Facebook that the Hacienda on the westside of Evansville is having a give back night this evening for the Posey County Fair Association. 20% of your check will go back to the Posey County Fair Association. You do not need a coupon; all you have to do is mention it to your server. Be sure to stop by Hacienda on Pearl Drive in Evansville tonight to support the Posey County Fair Association.

The Posey County Council on Aging is going to have an informational meeting this afternoon at 2PM at the office at 611 West 8th Street in Mount Vernon. The meeting is to fill the public in on all of the trips that will be taking place in 2024 with the council. Snacks and drinks will be available. This Saturday at the Poseyville community center will be the Poseyville Kiwanis Club, Breakfast with Santa event. This will be taking place from 8:00-11:00 AM at 60 North Church Street. Ticket prices at the door will be $9.00 for kids 4 to 9 years old and $12 for ages 10 and up. Kids 4 and under will get in for free. In local high school sports last night:

The North Posey Girls Basketball lost game number 8 of the season at home against Reitz. The Final score 63-42 in favor of the Panthers. The Vikings were led by Ashton Elpers with 14 points. With the loss, the Vikings drop to 3-5 on the season. They will be on the road at Mater Dei on Thursday.

From the professional sports world last night, in the NFL there were a pair of Monday Night Football games. The Tennessee Titans shocked the Miami Dolphins in Miami, 28-27. The Titans scored the games last 15 points. Tennessee improves to 5-8 and Miami drops to 9-4. The other game saw the New York Giants clip the Green Bay Packers at home, 24-22. The Packers fall to 6-7 and the Giants improve to 5-8.

From the NBA, the Indiana Pacers took care of the Detroit Pistons on the road, 131-123. Bennedict Mathurin led the way for the Pacers as he had 30 points off the bench. Indiana improves to 13-8 and will be in Milwaukee on Wednesday to take on the Bucks.

Coming up this evening in local High School Basketball:

The North Posey Boys Basketball will be home against Central. The JV game is at 5:30 PM and the Varsity game will follow around 7:00 PM. The Vikings are 1-1 and the Bears 2-1.

The Mt. Vernon Girls Basketball is also at home tonight as they welcome Carmi. The JV game is slated for a 6:00 PM tipoff, with the Varsity game to follow around 7:30 PM.

And in local college action this evening, the USI Men’s Basketball is home taking on the University of St. Francis. They are an NAIA team out of Illinois. The ball goes up at 7:00 PM. USI is 2-9 and looking to snap a 3-game losing streak.
