Crews responded on Monday afternoon to an accident in Posey County where officials say a man fell out of a deer stand. According to officials with the Black Township Fire and Rescue, a deer hunter fell out of a tree at the state park. Both Black Township and New Harmony were dispatched to the scene. The hunter had injuries to both his back and legs.

The Mt. Vernon Park and Recreation Department posted on Facebook that they are once again extremely thankful to receive a grant from the Posey County Community Foundation. It was for just over 8,500 dollars. It will go towards a new maintenance facility that they are in desperate need of. Dozens of local organizations received much needed funding.

Amidst a battle between the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation and its teachers' union, the two groups have agreed on some common ground for the upcoming year. With only one item on the agenda, Monday night's special session of the school board was over within minutes. The board unanimously approved the new collective bargaining agreement with the Evansville Teachers Association. A remaining source of tension between the school corporation and teachers' union is a complaint they filed with the Indiana Education Employment Relations Board. The ETA says in the complaint that EVSC failed to bargain with them before announcing a $1,500 stipend for teachers, violating a collective bargaining statute. The union claims EVSC's actions constitute unfair labor practices and ask that they receive $5,000 from EVSC for every instance of the violation. While they did not comment on the complaint from the ETA, EVSC says they are glad to have reached an agreement. One major upside of this new agreement is a $6,000 base pay raise for teachers over the next two years. While there was a period for public comment at the meeting, no members of the public elected to speak.
