The North Posey Vikings will take on the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers on Saturday at 10:00 AM Central Time at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the Class 2A State Championship game. Tickets are $15 each and kids 5 and under get in for free. Ticket sales are digital only. If you can't be there, we will have you covered here on Posey County Radio as Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan will have the call on 98.9 FM WPIW, 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. North Posey is 13-1 and Fort Wayne is 11-3.
The 89th Annual Hadi Shrine Circus at Ford Center in Evansville is this week and once again Posey County Shriners are making available free Circus Exchange Tickets for all Posey County Elementary School Students. These are student-only tickets and will be available only while supplies last. In Poseyville, they will be available at the Poseyville Police Department tonight from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM. Then tomorrow night in Mt. Vernon, they will be available at the Black Township Fire Department from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Adult advance discount admission tickets will also be available for purchase at the mentioned locations. Discount tickets will not be available after Wednesday. The Hadi Shine Circus starts with a show at 5:00 PM Thursday, then three shows on Friday and Saturday at 9:30 AM, 2:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. There will be a final show on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
Coming up this evening on 106.7 FM WMVI we will have boys high school basketball as the Mt. Vernon Wildcats tip off their season at home against Vincennes Rivet. The JV game is at 5:30 PM and the varsity game will start around 7:00 PM. Chris Cooke and Allen Buck will have the broadcast of the varsity game.
Also tonight on 98.9 FM WPIW, Chris Morlan will bring you high school girls basketball as North Posey travels to Central. The JV game is set for 5:30 PM and he will broadcast the varsity game around 7:00 PM. The Lady Vikings are 1-1 on the season.
Mt. Vernon Girls Basketball is also in action tonight as they head to South Spencer at 6:00 PM. The Lady Wildcats are still looking for their first win of the season as they sit at 0-4.
Local sports last night saw USI Men’s Basketball lose at Bucknell, 67-56. The Screaming Eagles had a 7-point lead at halftime but got outscored 41-23 in the second half. Jack Mielke had 14 points to pace the Screaming Eagles and Jordan Tillmon added 13 points. USI Men’s Basketball is now 1-5 on the year and will play at Duke on Friday.
USI Women’s Basketball lost big at Missouri, 96-62. Vanessa Shafford led the USI scorers with 16 points and Meredith Raley chipped in with 11 points. The Lady Eagles are now 3-1 on the season.
The Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Basketball team topped the Louisville Cardinals, 74-66. The game was played in New York at Madison Square Garden, a part of the Empire Classic. Xavier Johnson had 14 points to pace IU. The Hoosiers improve to 5-1.
