College Basketball season tipped off last night for many teams across the country, including several teams locally. The Evansville Purple Aces started their season off with a 72-64 win at home against Miami (Ohio). Ben Humrichous led the way with 21 points and 8 rebounds.

USI Men’s Basketball fell at Saint Louis, 75-63 and Jordan Tillman paced the Screaming Eagles with 15 points and 8 rebounds.

USI Women’s Basketball earned a win at home against Wright State, 67-63. Madi Webb had 13 points and 8 rebounds to lead the way for the Lady Eagles.

 

The North Posey Vikings Football team won the Class 2A Sectional 40 Championship game this past Friday night. The Vikings beat Paoli at home, 35-14. North Posey improves to 11-1 on the year and will play in the Regionals. They will travel to Triton Central on Friday for a 7:00 PM kickoff. Triton Central is also 11-1 on the season. Froggy’s Restaurant and Sports Bar says they will be donating 10% of their sales to local fire departments on Thursdays this month. Thursday November 9th will be for the Poseyville Fire Department, Thursday November 16th is for the Cynthiana Fire Department, and then Thursday November 30th will be for the Wadesville Fire Department. Froggy’s encourages the community to come out on these dates and help support the local volunteer firefighters.

 

From the NBA last night, the Indiana Pacers eviscerated the San Antonio Spurs at home, 152-111. Tyrese Haliburton poured in 23 points and Myles Turner collected a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Pacers improve to 4-3 on the season and will be home again on Wednesday against the Utah Jazz.
