The Town of Poseyville has announced that the annual Poseyville Christmas Tree lighting will be on Monday, December 4th at the Poseyville Community Center. It will start at 5:00 PM.

 

Last night the Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball team tipped off their season with a convincing win at home over Vincennes Rivet, 73-25. The Wildcats will be back in action on Saturday against North Central Farmersburg at 1:30 PM. The game will be at Terre Haute South High School.

 

North Posey Girls Basketball lost last night at Central, 63-34. The Vikings are now 1-2 on the year. Their next game is next Wednesday at Boonville.

 

The North Posey Vikings will take on the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers on Saturday at 10:00 AM Central Time at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the Class 2A State Championship game. Tickets are $15 each and kids 5 and under get in for free. Ticket sales are digital only. If you can't be there, we will have you covered here on Posey County Radio as Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan will have the call on 98.9 FM WPIW, 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. North Posey is 13-1 and Fort Wayne is 11-3.

 

The 89th Annual Hadi Shrine Circus at Ford Center in Evansville is this week and once again Posey County Shriners are making available free Circus Exchange Tickets for all Posey County Elementary School Students. Tonight in Mt. Vernon, they will be available at the Black Township Fire Department from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Adult advance discount admission tickets will also be available for purchase. Discount tickets will not be available after tonight. The Hadi Shine Circus starts with a show at 5:00 PM tomorrow, and then three shows on Friday and Saturday at 9:30 AM, 2:00 PM, and 7:00 PM. There will be a final show on Sunday at 3:00 PM.

 

In Men’s College Basketball yesterday, #2 Purdue hung on for a 71-67 win over #7 Tennessee in the Maui Invitational. Fletcher Loyer poured in 27 points for the Boilermakers and Zach Edey had 23 points and 10 rebounds. Purdue is now 5-0.

 

From the NBA last night, the Indiana Pacers won a wild game in Atlanta over the Hawks, 157-152. Tyrese Haliburton had 37 points and 16 assists for the Pacers. He was 9-15 from the three-point line. Haliburton scored 26 points in the third quarter and connected on 7 three pointers, both of which are a Pacers franchise record. The 157 points scored by Indiana is also a franchise record. The Pacers are now 8-5 on the season and they win Group A of the In-Season tournament.

 

Some offseason Major League Baseball news, the St. Louis Cardinals have signed a pair of right-handed pitchers…Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson. Lynn pitched for the Cardinals from 2011-2017 and pitched last year for both the White Sox and Dodgers. Lynn over the course of 12 seasons has an ERA of 3.38. Gibson has pitched in the big leagues for 11 seasons with the Twins, Rangers, Phillies, and most recently the Orioles. His career ERA is 4.54. Both of the contracts for Lynn and Gibson were one-year deals for 2024 and include a 2025 club option.
