Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation on March 16 after receiving an allegation that a female under the age of 14 had been sexually molested by Jorge Cesar Gonzalez, 53, of Mt. If the Evansville City Council passes an ordinance that would potentially kill the pickleball project planned for Wesselman Park, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke says he would veto it. The Parks Department plans to add pickleball courts next to the existing tennis complex. On Monday night, the council tabled a vote on the ordinance that would require City Council approval for any project like that. They want to hear a presentation from the Parks Board before making a decision next month.

Evansville Central Dispatch confirms that authorities responded to a shots fired run at Cedar Trace Apartments last night. Dispatch says a large police presence was on scene in the area near the 2200 block of North Seventh Avenue. Officials with the Evansville Police Department said that officers cleared the entire apartment complex, but found no signs of property damage or people hurt. Police say they were given a vague description of two men running into the building. However, no suspects were found inside, officials say. EPD says it’s possible a shooter could have run inside and then left before police arrived. Officials say it took police a couple of hours to search the building and evacuate residents.
