The German Township Water District officials say the boil advisory issued on Wednesday has been lifted in Posey County. As was reported on Wednesday, a water main break that happened on Old Blairsville Road in Wadesville was the cause of the boil advisory. The boil advisory was lifted Saturday morning.

 

Newlife Rescue and Adoption posted on Facebook that they still have several dogs and cats up for adoption at their 6500 Leonard Road location. This week at that shelter with an approved application, all adoptable dogs are 50 dollars, and all adoptable cats are 10 dollars.

 

This Thursday at Hedges Central Elementary School in Mt. Vernon, there will be a Jobapalooza event. The event will last from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. There will be music, food, giveaways, resources, and jobs.

 

North Posey High School posted on Facebook that they will be hosting a Job Fair this Thursday from 12:30 PM until 3:00 PM. Companies that will be attending include Nix, Hoehn Plastics, Ameriqual, Sabic, Trainmaster, H&R Agri-power, ARC of Southwestern Indiana, and Express Pros. Two traffic alerts for Evansville drivers. Signature School will close Main Street between 6th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The closure will begin on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Emergency vehicles will not be able to pass through. YWCA will also do a lane restriction in the outer southbound lane of Northwest 2nd Street between Vine Street and Court Street. The lane will close from Tuesday at 7:00 AM until May 1st.

 

Sports:

  • Evansville Baseball (20-15, 6-6) lost the rubber match of a 3-game series at Southern Illinois on Sunday, 3-2. The Salukis walked it off in the bottom of the 9th with a 2-out RBI single.

 

  • USI Baseball (10-25, 3-9) was able to end a 4-game skid and salvage a game at UT Martin yesterday with a 7-5 win.  

 

  • Evansville Softball (21-21, 7-10) dropped the rubber match of their 3-game series at Murray State, 6-2.

 

  • The St. Louis Cardinals (7-9) pulled out a 5-4 win in 10 innings at home against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Tommy Edman had the walk-off single with 2 outs in the 10th. Cardinals and Pirates split the 4-game series in St. Louis.  

 

  • The Chicago Cubs (8-6) edged the Dodgers 3-2 in Los Angeles as the Cubs took 2-of-3 in the series.

 

  • The Cincinnati Reds (6-9) got blasted at home by the Philadelphia Phillies, 14-3. Those two teams split the 4-game series.  

 

  • The Chicago White Sox (6-10) got tripped up by the Baltimore Orioles at home, 8-4. The Sox dropped 2-of-3 in the weekend series.
