The community is invited to join and celebrate the ribbon cutting of the Willow Tree of Posey County Healing Garden today at Brittlebank Park in Mt. Vernon. The celebration will last from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

 

Posey County Soil and Water posted on Facebook that they are looking for a Full-Time District Coordinator for the Posey County Soil and Water Conservation District. This multifaceted position provides administration and office management according to Indiana District Law. The position is housed in Mt. Vernon. Crumbl Cookies is hoping to satisfy cookie lovers on Evansville’s westside now. After spreading rapidly across the United States, the bakery is setting sights on a second Tri-State location. According to recently filed business application, Crumbl Cookies is planning on expanding their business near USI’s campus. Once opened, you’ll be able to buy cookies at the new location on 5435 Pearl Drive near the Buffalo Wild Wings. Crumbl made their Evansville debut two years ago on Burkhardt Avenue. As of now, there is no expected date for when the westside location will open.

 

Indiana State Police say they received hundreds of pounds of drugs in Evansville as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe and responsible way to dispose of prescription drugs while educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications. ISP says the Evansville location received around 600 lbs of prescription drugs on Saturday. 

 

Many celebrated Earth Day at the Mesker Park Zoo during its “Party for the Planet” on Saturday. People were invited to come out and enjoy the animals, get some free gear and celebrate the planet. There was also a recycled art contest. The party didn’t stop in Evansville though as zoo officials say they were one of 102 zoos to celebrate the “Party for the Planet” on Saturday, making it the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America.

 

Sports:

  • Evansville Baseball (23-16, 8-7) split a doubleheader at Murray State yesterday. The Aces won the first game, 6-3 and lost the second game, 10-3. UE took 2-of-3 in the weekend series.

 

  • USI Baseball (13-26, 5-10) picked up a 15-8 win at home against Eastern Illinois. The Screaming Eagles won 2-of-3 during the weekend series.

 

  • Evansville Softball (21-25, 7-13) got swept at Illinois Chicago as the Purple Aces fell 7-6 on Sunday.

 

  • USI Softball (18-20, 11-9) won both games of their doubleheader on Sunday at Tennessee State, 3-2 and 5-1.

 

  • The St. Louis Cardinals (9-13) earned a 7-3 win at Seattle.

 

  • The Chicago Cubs (12-9) got tripped up at home against the Dodgers, 7-3.

 

  • The Cincinnati Reds (7-15) were swept in Pittsburgh by the Pirates, 2-0.

 

  • The Chicago White Sox (7-15) got swept in Tampa Bay by the Rays, 4-1.
