Tomorrow morning at the Poseyville Community Center, there will be an Improving Water Quality Breakfast from 7:00 AM until 11:00 AM. This event is free, but registration is required. Breakfast will be provided by Froggy’s. The event is presented by Posey County Soil and Water Conservation District, Posey County Purdue Extension, Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative, and The Nature Conservancy. Joel Reddick from Reddick Farms in Kentucky will be the keynote speaker. A few of the topics will include “Farming for the Future” and Soil Effects on Water Quality.

 

Over the weekend, High School Boys Basketball Sectionals wrapped up on Saturday with the championship games. In the Class 4A Sectional 16 at North High School, Reitz beat Jasper. Reitz will play either Jennings County or New Albany next weekend in the Regional. In the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Boonville, Gibson Southern won their first sectional championship in 21 years as they took care of Mater Dei. The Titans will now play North Daviess next weekend in the Regional as they defeated Washington in the Class 3A Sectional 31 at Washington. Moving on to Class 2A Sectional 48 at Tell City, where Forest Park won their second-straight sectional championship as they clipped North Posey on Saturday. The Rangers await either Southwestern or Brownstown in the Regional. Finally in Class 1A Sectional 64 at Wood Memorial, Northeast Dubois edged Evansville Christian and will play Loogootee in the Regional.

 

Coming up tonight on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com it’s the final Mt. Vernon Basketball Coaches Show of the season. The show will air from 6:00 PM until 6:30 PM as Allen Buck will chat with Wildcats Boys Basketball Head Coach, Joe Newcomb. Mt. Vernon lost their first-round sectional game on Tuesday against Boonville and finished the year with a 9-16 record.

 

Sports:

- Evansville Baseball (7-5) has now won 7-straight games after sweeping Bowling Green at home over the weekend in a 4-game series. The Purple Aces won both games of their DH yesterday 8-4 and 13-3. 

- USI Baseball (5-6) got swept in a 3-game series at Washington State over the weekend. The Screaming Eagles lost yesterday 6-0. 

- Evansville Softball (13-5) has now lost 4-straight games after losing yesterday to Akron 5-0 and Austin Peay 9-1. Both games were played at WKU in a tournament. 

- USI Softball (4-8) is spending some time down in Florida at Madeira Beach. The Screaming Eagles have dropped 3-straight games after falling to Central Michigan 9-0 and Bethune-Cookman 4-1 yesterday. 

- From Mens College Basketball...#15 IU (21-10) finished up their regular season with a thrilling 75-73 OT win at home against Michigan. With the victory, the Hoosiers earn the #3 seed in this week's Big 10 Tournament in Chicago. They get a double bye and will play Friday. #5 Purdue (26-5) topped Illinois (20-11) at home 76-71. The Boilermakers will be the #1 seed in this week's Big 10 Tournament and play Friday. Illinois is the #7 seed and will have to face #10 seed Penn State on Thursday. 

- The Indiana Pacers (29-36) squeaked out a road win in Chicago against the Bulls 125-122. Indiana went 3-1 on their 4-game road-trip. Tyrese Haliburton hit the game-winning three-point shot inside of three seconds. Haliburton had 29 points and 11 assist.
