The 101st West Side Nut Club Fall Festival gets underway today on Franklin Street in Evansville. The very popular half pot booths will open at 10:00 AM this morning and run through 10:00 PM every day this week. Half Pot tickets will be sold until 2:00 PM Saturday and the winner will be drawn Saturday evening at 8:00 PM. Ticket prices are one for $5, three for $10, twenty for $20, fifty for $40, and 150 for $100. You must be 18 years and older to enter.

Of course, there will be all kinds of food booths lined up throughout the week and if you are a Posey County organization that is going to have a booth at the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival, let us know. Email your information such as organization, booth number, and menu items. We will spread the word on 106.7 WMVI and 98.9 WPIW during the morning show this week. As of this past Saturday (October 1st), the Posey County Humane Society and Posey County Pound Puppies joined and became Newlife Rescue and Adoption. The Elks Lodge 277 is doing a cash raffle to benefit NewLife Rescue and Adoption. They are selling only 3,000 tickets and the drawing will be on October 15th. You can get your tickets at 131 East 4th Street in Mt. Vernon. Tickets are $10 each. 1st prize is $5,000, 2nd prize is $2,000, 3rd prize is $1,000 and 4th prize is $500.

 

Yesterday, the IHSAA released the brackets for the Girls Volleyball Sectionals which will get underway next week. In the Class 3A Sectional 32 hosted by Gibson Southern High School, Mt. Vernon Volleyball received a bye in the first round and will play the winner of Memorial and Gibson Southern. Mt. Vernon will play that match next Thursday, October 13th.

In the Class 2A Sectional 48 hosted by Perry Central, North Posey Volleyball will have to play the host school Perry Central in the first match on opening night. That match will be played next Tuesday, October 11th.

 

Local Sports From Yesterday:

- University of Evansville Women's Soccer lost a MVC match 2-1 at home against Southern Illinois. The Purple Aces drop to 1-6-4 overall and 0-3-2 in conference action. 

- USI Women's Soccer tied SIU Edwardsville on the road, 0-0. The Screaming Eagles are 3-5-3 and 0-3-1 in the OVC.
