Starting off this week with a few community calendar notes. 

 

As of October 1st, the Posey County Humane Society and Posey County Pound Puppies will join and become Newlife Rescue and Adoption. 


The Elks Lodge 277 is doing a cash raffle to benefit NewLife Rescue and Adoption. Tickets are $10 each. 1st prize is $5,000, 2nd prize is $2,000, 3rd prize is $1,000 and 4th prize is $500. They are selling only 3,000 tickets and the drawing will be on October 15th. You can get your tickets at 131 East 4th Street in Mt. Vernon.

 

Poseyville Autumnfest is coming up this weekend at the community center, which is located at 60 North Church Street. On Friday night from 6:00-11:00 PM there will be a bierstube with music and food. Saturday morning there is the Poseyville Pumpkin Run/Walk 5K. Registration will be from 7:00-7:45 AM, followed by the kids dash at 8:15 AM and the 1 mile and 5K starts at 8:30 AM. Hot Rod Lincoln Band will be playing at the Autumnfest from 5:30-8:30 PM Saturday. Also, at 7:30 PM Saturday there will be fireworks. The Autumnfest will wrap up with a parade on Sunday at 3:00 PM.

 

Local Sports From Sunday:

- UE Women's Soccer lost their MVC opener at Missouri State, 1-0. Purple Aces are 1-4-2 on the year. 

- USI Women's Soccer dropped their OVC opener at Morehead State, 1-0. Screaming Eagles are 3-3-2 on the season.
