News:

MSD of North Posey County will have an e-Learning Day today. Their staff uses these days for professional development training to benefit students and enhance classroom instruction. Students will not report to school buildings today. Assignments will be communicated from classroom teachers. You can contact the specific course teacher if you have any questions.

 

A large pothole on SR 62 in Posey County made for a disastrous commute for some drivers. According to Indiana State Police, the large pothole is on the SR62 EB passing lane. The hazard is located just west of Posey County Line Road. As of Wednesday evening, police tell 44News that at least three vehicles received tire damage. No one was hurt. Troopers closed the lane while they called on the Department of Transportation to address the pothole.

 

Another ‘Access to Service Fair’ event has been set in Evansville. That means people will be able to speak one-on-one with CenterPoint Energy and Evansville Water and Sewer Utility representatives about their accounts. Officials say the event is set for this evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the CK Newsom Center. Officials from local assistance agencies and township trustee offices will also be there. Organizers say they’ve already helped dozens of customers with payment arrangements and to sign up for the new bill relief program.

 

The University of Evansville will be taking their campus 60 years back in time. University officials say, during the recent demolition of Hughes Hall they discovered a time capsule. There will also be an official ceremony to open the capsule Friday, February 17th during the school’s Founder’s Day.

 

Sports:

- Evansville Men's Basketball (5-21, 1-14) ended a 12-game losing streak last night as they beat Northern Iowa at home, 71-59. Yacine Toumi had 15 points and 9 rebounds. Kenny Strawbridge Jr added 14 points. 

- From other Men's College Basketball last night...Notre Dame (10-14) lost at Georgia Tech, 70-68. Indiana State (17-9) cruised passed Valparaiso, 84-62. SIU (19-7) hung on at home against Illinois-Chicago, 68-66. 

- The Indiana Pacers (25-31) got burnt in Miami by the Heat, 116-111. Buddy Heild had 29 points for the Pacers.
