There's a fun Halloween event for kids and families happening in downtown Evansville on Saturday. The Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District will be hosting its second annual "Halloween Stroll and Trunk-or-Treat Car Show" from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday. The event will take place along Main Street downtown, featuring a car show with awards in 11 categories, and candy available at more than 20 downtown businesses as well as from car show participants. The event will also include Halloween crafts for kids, meet-and-greets with costumed characters, face painting, music, and holiday inflatables for photo opportunities. A costume contest with three categories (Family, Kids, Dogs) will also take place by the fountain on the 300 Block of Main at 1:00 PM. Guests must be present to win. Organizers say the event will also serve as an opportunity for the public to meet local first responders from the Evansville Police Department, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

St. Louis Cardinals veteran right-handed pitcher, Adam Wainwright is returning for the 2023 season. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported yesterday morning that the 41-year-old will be pitching his 18th major league season with the Cardinals. Wainwright has been a fixture in the Cardinals’ rotation for 15 consecutive winning seasons and will have a chance to pursue a 200th career win. Last Season, Wainwright went 11-12 with a 3.71 ERA and said after the Cardinals’ loss to the Phillies in the wild-card series that he was frustrated by not pitching at all in the series, and that he could draw motivation from how his season ended. He is a three time All-Star with St. Louis and over his first 17 seasons has compiled a record of 195-117 with a 3.38 ERA and 2,147 strikeouts.

The Cardinals also announced yesterday that their Hitting Coach Jeff Albert and Pitching Coach Mike Maddux have decided to not return in their roles next season. With the departure of Bench Coach Skip Schumaker heading to Miami to manage the Marlins, Cardinals Manager Oliver Marmol now has three positions to fill on his coaching staff for next year.
