Mt. Vernon water users are still under a boil order until further notice. The boil order started on Tuesday when Posey County Emergency Management posted on Facebook that there was a problem at the Mt. Vernon Water Plant with Turbidity levels in the water. If you have any concerns, contact the Mt. Vernon Water Department.

 

Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana has announced it has received a $10,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation, which will support Junior Achievement programs in Dubois, Gibson, Pike, Posey, and Warrick counties, among others. The Duke Energy Foundation’s investment supports Junior Achievement Pathways programs for more than 7,500 students in the area that Duke serves. Junior Achievement Pathways consists of learning experiences from kindergarten through 12th grade, each inspiring, preparing, and enabling students to acquire and demonstrate the skills needed to be financially capable, work and career ready, and entrepreneurially minded.

 

The Vanderburgh County Health Department is planning to host a drive-through influenza and COVID-19 vaccine booster clinic on Saturday, October. 1st. From 8:30 AM until 12:00 PM on October 1st, the drive-through style vaccination clinic will take place in the large parking lot on the north side of Ivy Tech Evansville. Anyone attending the drive-through event behind Ivy Tech should enter off from Tremont Drive. During the clinic, the health department says that both season flu vaccines and COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer) boosters will be offered. The Vanderburgh County Health Department says that flu vaccines are recommended for all people ages 6-months-old and older. They accept children and adult clients with no insurance, Medicaid, and some private insurances. Insurance is not required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. 

 

It’s Homecoming week for North Posey Football as the 4-1 Vikings play host to 5-0 Tecumseh this Friday night. Tonight, there will be tailgating at the Boys and Girls soccer games. It is bring your own chairs, food, and games as nothing will be provided. The tailgating will start anytime after 4:30 PM. On Friday, the Homecoming Parade will start at 6:15 PM, Homecoming Ceremony at 6:40 PM, and once again the North Posey against Tecumseh game kicks off at 7:00 PM. The Homecoming floats will also be in the Autumnfest Parade this weekend.

 

Mt. Vernon Football who is also 4-1 on the year, has their homecoming as well this Friday night. The Wildcats will be playing host to 3-2 Boonville at 7:00 PM. Mt. Vernon will have their Homecoming Dance on Saturday from 8:00-11:00 PM.

 

Local Sports From Last Night:

- Mt. Vernon Volleyball lost in straight-sets at Memorial (25-9, 25-21, 25-21). The Wildcats are now 11-6 on the season.

- Mt. Vernon Boys Tennis defeated Tell City at home, 5-0.
