Newlife Rescue and Adoption posted on Facebook that they still have several dogs and cats up for adoption at their 6500 Leonard Road location. This week at that shelter with an approved application, all adoptable dogs are 50 dollars, and all adoptable cats are 10 dollars.

 

This Thursday at Hedges Central Elementary School in Mt. Vernon, there will be a Jobapalooza event. The event will last from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. There will be music, food, giveaways, resources, and jobs.

 

North Posey High School posted on Facebook that they will be hosting a Job Fair this Thursday from 12:30 PM until 3:00 PM. Companies that will be attending include Nix, Hoehn Plastics, Ameriqual, Sabic, Trainmaster, H&R Agri-power, ARC of Southwestern Indiana, and Express Pros. If a company is interested in participating, you should contact Brad Wallace at bwallace@northposey.k12.in.us.

 

A new partnership between the University of Evansville and Warrick County schools is set to start next fall. The partnership will give college credit to high school students enrolled in education or heath science programs. Vice President of Academic Affairs, Michael Austin, says students will be able to earn credits to help accelerate their college careers. Austin say those who successfully complete the program will get a $25,000 scholarship to the university. The programs will be taught at the newly developed Warrick Pathways Career Center.

 

The High School Baseball rankings were updated and released on Monday, with several tri-state teams receiving recognition. In Class 4A, North is 7th and Central is 9th. In Class 3A, Jasper is ranked 3rd. Class 2A has Forest Park 2nd. From Class 1A, Tecumseh is 5th and Barr-Reeve is 7th. Teams that are receiving votes include…Memorial, Princeton, Southridge, Mater Dei, South Knox, North Daviess, and Northeast Dubois.

 

In the High School Softball rankings…in Class 4A Castle is 14th. From Class 3A, Gibson Southern is 4th, Pike Central is 14th, and Heritage Hills is 15th. In Class 2A, North Posey is the top team as they are ranked 1st. Class 1A has Barr-Reeve 1st, and both Tecumseh and Northeast Dubois 3rd.

 

Sports:

  • Mt. Vernon Baseball (2-7) lost last night at home against Reitz, 13-8.

 

  • North Posey Softball (8-0) earned an 11-3 win over Memorial.

 

  • The St. Louis Cardinals (7-10) lost the opener of a 3-game series at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks last night, 6-3.    

 

  • The Cincinnati Reds (7-9) hammered the Tampa Bay Rays at home, 8-1 is their series opener.
