ACCORDING TO POSEY COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OFFICIALS, A MAN CHARGED WITH THE DEATH OF A 1-YEAR-OLD GIRL HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS IN PRISON. OFFICIALS SAY RICHARD KENNEDY WAS SENTENCED TUESDAY FOR NEGLECT OF A DEPENDENT RESULTING IN DEATH AFTER HE PLEAD GUILTY BACK IN FEBRUARY. KENNEDY AND SAMANTHA BURRIS WERE ARRESTED IN OCTOBER OF 2018 AFTER 14-MONTH-OLD NYLA BRANTLEY DIED FROM HEAD INJURIES WHILE BEING BABYSAT BY KENNEDY AND BURRIS. BURRIS’S TRIAL IS SCHEDULED SEPTEMBER 26 ON A CHARGE OF NEGLECT OF A DEPENDENT. OFFICIALS SAY KENNEDY HAS BEEN CREDITED WITH TIME SERVED.


STUDENTS AND TEACHERS FROM THE MSD OF NORTH POSEY AS WELL AS OTHER RESIDENTS SPENT THE DAY YESTERDAY PARTICIPATING IN THE POSEYVILLE PICK UP DAY. PARTICIPANTS GATHERED AT THE POSEYVILLE COMMUNITY CENTER TO HELP CLEAN UP WEEDS, YARD TRASH, LEAVES AND EVEN PAINT STREET CURBS AND BENCHES. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME FOR THE ORGANIZED PICK UP DAY IN POSEYVILLE.

THE 5TH ANNUAL MT. VERNON FOOTBALL POPS AUCTION IS COMING UP ON SATURDAY, APRIL 15TH. TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED BY APRIL 10TH. THEY ARE 30 DOLLARS PER-PERSON, OR 50 DOLLARS PER-COUPLE. THERE WILL BE AN AUCTION, GAMES, RAFFLES, FOOD, DRINKS, AND A LIVE BAND. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD TO ATTEND.   • NORTH POSEY BASEBALL EARNED A 9-1 WIN OVER PRINCETON.

  • EVANSVILLE BASEBALL WON A WILD GAME IN WEST LAFAYETTE VS PURDUE, 12-10. THE ACES TRAILED 8-2 AFTER THE 2ND INNING. UE IMPROVES TO 17-11 ON THE SEASON.

  • EVANSVILLE SOFTBALL LOST A TOUGH GAME AT INDIANA STATE, 3-2. PURPLE ACES SOFTBALL IS NOW 17-18 ON THE YEAR AND 3-7 IN THE CONFERENCE.

  • USI SOFTBALL GOT SHUTOUT AT HOME VS IUPUI, 3-0. THE SCREAMING EAGLES SLIP TO 12-16 ON THE SEASON.

  • FROM MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL LAST NIGHT…THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS LOST AT HOME AGAINST THE ATLANTA BRAVES, 4-1. THE CARDINALS HAVE DROPPED BACK-TO-BACK GAMES AS THEY FALL TO 2-3 ON THE YOUNG SEASON. ST. LOUIS LOOKS TO AVOID A 3-GAME SWEEP VS THE BRAVES TODAY AT 12:15 PM. THE GAME CAN BE HEARD ON 106.7 WMVI

  • THE CHICAGO CUBS WALLOPED THE CINCINNATI REDS IN CINCY, 12-5. THE CUBS ARE 2-3 AND THE REDS ARE NOW 3-2.
