The YMCA in Evansville is looking for workers to fill open positions. Today they will be hosting a hiring event for those interested. Today’s event will take place at the Dunigan Family YMCA. Hiring officials will be available for open interviews from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. All departments are hiring including member services, childcare, aquatics, and community outreach. 

 

Family Matters of Posey County Indiana is seeking a new Executive Director. Requirements for the position includes a bachelor’s degree with a preference given to degrees in human services, administration, or social work. Other requirements include 3-5 years of previous non-profit experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, program development and management experience, ability to work with people from various socioeconomic backgrounds, fundraising and grant writing experience, self-starter, multitasker, highly organized, and motivated to support the community. Tickets for the West Side Nut Club Cure F-A exhibition baseball game are officially on sale. F-A or Friedreich's Ataxia is a degenerative neuro-muscular disorder that affects one in 50,000 people in the United States. USI Baseball Head Coach, Tracy Archuleta began this fundraiser to honor his son Sam, who suffers from the disorder. The last two games have raised over $86,000 and the team hopes to break the $100,000 threshold this year. The game will take place on October 22nd at Bosse Field at 2:00 PM with USI hosting Kent State. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. You can purchase tickets at USI Athletics and all Banterra Bank locations in Evansville and Newburgh. Fans can also purchase tickets at curefa.org/USIBaseball.

 

We are already at Week 5 of the High School Football season across the tri-state this coming Friday. Yesterday, the new AP High School Football rankings were released and there were quite a few tri-state teams in the rankings. Starting with Class 5A, Castle is 8th. In Class 4A Reitz is 9th, Memorial 11th, and Jasper is 13th. Class 3A features Gibson Southern ranked 2nd, Southridge 9th, Vincennes 11th, and Heritage Hills 12th. Moving on to Class 2A, Mater Dei is slotted 8th, Perry Central 13th, and North Posey is 14th. In Class 1A, Tecumseh is 10th.  

 

Local Sports From Last Night: 

- North Posey Volleyall lost in 4-sets at Reitz. Vikings Volleyball drops to 13-4 on the season. 

- North Posey Boys Tennis defeated Mt. Vernon, 4-1.

- Mt. Vernon Girls Golf finished 3rd out of 3 teams in their home match at Western Hills Country Club. Mater Dei won with a team score of 187, Reitz finished 2nd with a team score of 220, and Mt. Vernon finished 3rd with a team score of 226. 

- USI Men's Soccer fell on the road at Bradley, 1-0. The Screaming Eagles are still winless on the year at 0-5-1.
