The Mt. Vernon Housing Authority is looking for a Full-Time Office Assistant. Applicants must be good at dealing with the public, well trained in word, excel, and be comfortable overall with computers. Full benefit package will include Health, Dental, Vision, Retirement, Vacation, Holiday’s, and Sick Pay. It is also mentioned, that it is preferred that applicants are willing to learn the software system the Housing Authority utilizes and some basic knowledge in Accounts Payable. Resumes can be turned in at the Section 8 office, which is located at 1500 Jefferson Street, Mt. Vernon, IN 47620. They will accept resumes Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

 

The University of Evansville is launching a new construction management program in the Fall of 2023. According to UE officials, applications for the new program are now open. Applicants don’t have to have any prior knowledge of construction to apply. Students accepted into the program will take courses through the School of Engineering and Computer Science. The four-year program will provide graduating students with the tools that’ll allow them to hit the ground running as a construction manager after college. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor on average, about 38,900 openings for construction manager are projected each year, over the next decade. Following their 61-14 thumping of South Spencer last Friday night to open the season, North Posey Football is ranked 13th for Class 2A in this week’s AP High School Football Rankings. Mater Dei is ranked 1st in Class 2A. For Class 3A, Gibson Southern is 3rd and Heritage Hills is 8th. Class 4A has Jasper 5th and Memorial 12th. Class 5A includes Castle 7th and North 14th.

 

Local Sports From Last Night: 

- Mt. Vernon Girls Soccer defeated Princeton at home, 5-1. Maty Burnett scored (4) goals and Ella Sponn had (1) goal. Wildcats are 2-2 on the year.

- Mt. Vernon Boys Tennis lost 5-0 vs Southridge. 

- Mt. Vernon Girls Golf beat Boonville. MV shot a 214 as a team, while Boonville shot a 229. For the Wildcats, Hadley Weatherford (48) and Olivia Culley (49) led the way.

- North Posey Volleyball earned a win at home against Bosse in straight-sets. Vikings are 3-2 on the season. 

- North Posey Girls Soccer dropped a match at South Spencer, 2-0. They fall to 0-3 on the young season. 

- Evansville Otters started their final 6-game home-stand of the regular season with a 5-1 win over the Joliet Slammers. With 11 games to go, Evansville is 46-38 and now has a 2-game lead over Joliet for a playoff spot. Evansville and Joliet continue their 3-game series tonight at Bosse Field at 6:35 PM.
