North Posey Vikings VS North Knox 09-04-26

The North Posey Vikings remained unbeaten Friday night with a dominant 45-7 victory over the North Knox Warriors at Joe Gengelbach Field in Poseyville.

North Knox struck first and controlled much of the opening quarter. The Warriors put together a 14-play, 72-yard drive, capped by Cooper Lemberg's 32-yard touchdown pass to Carter Becher with 2:37 remaining in the first.

North Posey answered quickly. The Vikings marched down the field before Bret Buecher scored on a six-yard run with 27 seconds remaining, tying the game at seven after one quarter.

North Knox then put together another lengthy possession, holding the football for nearly eight minutes on a 13-play, 63-yard drive. But the North Posey defense stopped the Warriors on fourth down, and the momentum changed immediately.

Just two plays later, Cade Mauck broke loose for a 75-yard touchdown run to give North Posey its first lead, 14-7.

The Vikings added another score with 1:01 remaining before halftime when Carter Schickel connected with Buecher on a five-yard hitch. Buecher did the rest, finding the end zone to send North Posey into halftime leading 21-7.

North Posey took complete control after the break.

Mauck capped a four-play, 56-yard opening drive with a two-yard touchdown run to make it 28-7. He struck again later in the third quarter from one yard out, giving him three rushing touchdowns on the night and extending the lead to 35-7.

Then came the play that triggered the running clock. Camden Clowers took a wide receiver screen 72 yards down the left sideline for a touchdown, putting North Posey ahead 42-7.

Ethan Ashby finished the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 31-yard field goal, giving the Vikings the 45-7 final.

Mauck led the North Posey rushing attack with 125 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries. Buecher contributed in both phases, rushing for a touchdown while catching three passes for 66 yards and another score.

Clowers caught three passes for 106 yards and a touchdown, while Brody Fehn added a 45-yard reception.

Schickel was nearly perfect through the air, completing eight of nine passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Ashby went six-for-six on extra points and connected on his only field-goal attempt.

North Posey finished with 352 yards of offense — 217 passing and 135 rushing — while committing just three penalties for 15 yards.

The defense was led by Zeke Roosevelt with nine tackles. Lane Young recorded eight tackles and a sack, while Braden Elpers finished with six.

After North Knox's opening touchdown, the Vikings shut the Warriors out for the remainder of the night.

North Posey scored on all seven of its offensive possessions — six touchdowns followed by Ashby's field goal — as the Vikings pulled away for their most convincing victory of the young season.

North Posey improves to 3-0 and will go on the road next Friday night looking to remain undefeated against the Tell City Marksmen.
