North Posey Vikings VS South Spencer 09-25-26

North Posey survived a wild overtime battle at South Spencer Friday night, as the seventh-ranked Vikings held on for a 56-55 victory to remain undefeated on the season.

The two teams combined for 111 points in a game that featured big plays throughout and turned into a shootout in the second half. South Spencer scored on each of its final four possessions, while North Posey scored on three straight possessions down the stretch before the game eventually went to overtime.

North Posey quarterback Carter Schickel completed 25 of 34 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Cade Mauck had a huge night for the Vikings, rushing 16 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns while catching three passes for 108 yards and another score. Mauck also returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.

Bret Buecher caught nine passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns, while Remi Johnson finished with seven receptions for 35 yards and added a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown.

South Spencer was led by running back Tre Lance, who carried the ball 39 times for 200 yards and five touchdowns. Quarterback Jaycek Miller completed 23 of 34 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns with one interception.

Michael Stratford led the Rebels with 10 receptions for 120 yards and two touchdowns and also recorded an interception on defense. Logan Neighbors added five catches for 112 yards and a touchdown.

The one-point overtime victory improves North Posey to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in PAC Small School Division play. South Spencer falls to 2-4.

North Posey returns home next Friday for Homecoming against Forest Park. The Vikings will have an opportunity to secure the PAC Small School Division championship outright.
