North Posey VS Tecumseh Recap 08-28-26

The North Posey Vikings improved to 2-and-0 on the season Friday night with a convincing 48-14 win over the Tecumseh Braves at North Posey High School.

After a slow start for both teams, North Posey broke through with 3:07 remaining in the first quarter when quarterback Carter Schickel connected with Brody Fehn for a touchdown to give the Vikings a 7-0 lead. Schickel struck again with just four seconds left in the quarter, finding Bret Buecher for an 18-yard touchdown and a 14-0 advantage.

The Schickel-to-Buecher combination wasted little time adding another score in the second quarter. On North Posey's first possession of the period, Schickel hit Buecher for an 80-yard touchdown, extending the lead to 21-0.

Tecumseh cut the deficit to 21-7 on a two-yard touchdown run by Waylon Riddle, but North Posey added three more before halftime when Ethan Ashby connected on a field goal to send the Vikings into the locker room leading 24-7.

Ashby opened the second-half scoring with a 31-yard field goal before Schickel threw his fourth touchdown pass of the night, connecting with sophomore Camden Clowers for a 21-yard score that made it 34-7.

North Posey put the game away in the fourth quarter. Cade Mauck scored on a three-yard touchdown run before breaking loose for a 63-yard touchdown on the Vikings' next possession, pushing the lead to 48-7 and starting the running clock.

Tecumseh added the final touchdown with 47 seconds remaining when Brody Deal connected with Grant Nelson, making the final 48-14.

Defensively, Lane Young led North Posey with seven tackles, while Camden Clowers and Zeke Roosevelt each recorded six. Sullivan Harp recorded a sack, while Cru Wilzbacher and Cade Mauck each came away with interceptions.

North Posey moves to 2-and-0 and will remain at home next Friday night when the Vikings host North Knox. The Warriors handed North Posey a 25-24 loss last season in Bicknell, giving the Vikings an opportunity to avenge that defeat and continue their unbeaten start.
