The Indiana Department of Transportation says lane closures are planned for Interstate 64 near Griffin. According to INDOT Southwest, the closures are needed for median crossover construction and are expected to begin Monday, October 19th. Officials say at least one lane will remain open in each direction throughout the project. Construction is expected to continue through the end of November, weather permitting.

 

Ticket sales for the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival Half Pot continue to climb. The half pot reached $1.5 million late yesterday afternoon. Online sales opened at midnight on September 30th. Organizers remind ticket holders that winning an Early Bird drawing does not disqualify them from winning the grand prize. The grand prize drawing is set for this Sunday. Tonight is Week 8 of the High School Football season, and the North Posey Vikings are at the Heritage Hills Patriots at 7:00 PM. The Vikings are 7-0 and ranked 9th in Class 2A. The Patriots are 5-2 on the season. Jordan Fisher and Chris Morlan have the radio call tonight on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at poseycountyradio.com.

Last night in local high school sports, Mt. Vernon Volleyball lost at home to North in straight sets. The Wildcats are 9-17.

Mt. Vernon Boys Soccer won their sectional match vs Bosse, 5-1 and North Posey Boys Soccer lost to Mater Dei, 2-1. Mt. Vernon and Mater Dei play in the sectional championship match tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM at Mt. Vernon High School.

 

In the Major League Baseball Playoffs last night, the Chicago White Sox lost Game 4 of the American League Divisional Series at home vs the Cleveland Guardians, 9-5. The Guardians scored three runs in the 5th inning and six runs in the sixth inning. Miguel Vargas homered for the White Sox. The road team has won each of the four games in the series. The best-of-five series is tied, 2-2 and the decisive Game 5 is in Cleveland tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. The winner of the game gets the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League Championship Series.

The National League Championship Series is already set between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers. Game 1 of that series is Sunday night in Milwaukee.
