There are two weeks left in the High School Football regular season and the North Posey Vikings are undefeated with a 7-0 record. The Vikings are ranked 9th in Class 2A in this week’s Indiana Football Coaches Association rankings. In Class 5A, Castle is 11th. Reitz is ranked 8th in Class 4A. In Class 3A, Memorial is 1st, Gibson Southern is 4th, and Mater Dei is 6th. Finally, in Class 1A, North Daviess is 5th, Springs Valley is 11th, and Tecumseh is 13th.
Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari officials are celebrating another national honor. The park has been ranked number 40 in the nation for Best Customer Service by Forbes. That comes after Holiday World recently received recognition from USA Today for Best Theme Park Halloween Event and from Amusement Today as the number one water park in the world. Park leaders credit their friendly staff and strong guest satisfaction for the latest honor. Meanwhile, Happy Halloween Weekends are underway at the park, featuring a dinosaur theme, a corn maze, a Saturday night drone show and extended hours. Friday Night Live! events are also part of the Halloween festivities. And there’s already something new on the horizon. Holiday World has announced the Cannonball water coaster, which is scheduled to open in spring 2027.
Last night in local high school sports, North Posey Volleyball won at Princeton in straight sets. The Vikings are 15-7 overall.
Mt. Vernon Girls Soccer lost in the first round of sectionals to Memorial, 11-0. The Wildcats went 4-13 this season.
Coming up this evening in local high school sports, Mt. Vernon Volleyball has a home match vs Tecumseh. The JV match begins at 6:00 PM and the Varsity match is around 7:30 PM.
North Posey Boys Soccer plays their first sectional match vs Boonville at 5:30 PM. The match is at Mt. Vernon.
North Posey Girls Soccer also plays their first sectional match vs Evansville Christian at 7:00 PM. The match is at Tell City.
North Posey Boys Tennis #1 Singles, Owen Beuligmann plays in the individual sectional tournament at North High School at 4:30 PM. He battles Dominic Blackard from Evansville Christian.
In the Major League Baseball Playoffs on Monday, the Chicago White Sox won Game 2 of their American League Divisional Series at the Cleveland Guardians, 4-3. The White Sox trailed 2-1 after five innings and then scored three runs in the 6th inning to take the lead for good. They are one win away from moving on to the American League Championship Series, as they lead the best-of-five series, 2-0. Game three is in Chicago tomorrow at 3:00 PM.
