With severe weather season getting underway, local officials are encouraging residents to prepare now before storms arrive. The Posey County Emergency Management Agency, in partnership with the Posey County Health Department, is offering free weather radios to county residents. Officials say the radios provide critical, real-time alerts for severe storms, tornado warnings, and other emergencies—even during power outages or overnight hours. Emergency management leaders stress that having a weather radio can make a life-saving difference when severe weather strikes. Supplies are limited, and the radios are available to Posey County residents only. For more information, you can contact the Posey County EMA at 812-838-1319 or pick one up in person at their office on Mill Street in Mount Vernon between 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM. Officials say staying informed, prepared, and ready is key as severe weather season begins.
