Yesterday at 12:30 PM, officials said a call came through reporting a fire at the A.B. Brown Power Plant in Posey County. Black Township Fire & Rescue responded as mutual aid to the commercial structure fire along with Marrs Township Fire Department, Perry Township Fire Department, and Posey County EMS. No injuries were reported, and the fire was tapped out yesterday afternoon.
Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball closed their regular season with a thrilling 65-64 win at South Spencer last night. Meyer Robb hit a 3-point shot in the closing seconds to give the Wildcats the victory. Mt. Vernon will head into Sectionals with a 12-12 record. They will play Heritage Hills on Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the first round of the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Boonville High School.
North Posey Boys Basketball lost their regular season finale at Gibson Southern last night, 51-39. The Vikings will take an 11-11 record into Sectionals next week. North Posey will battle Tell City in their first postseason game on Wednesday at 5:30 PM. They play in the Class 2A Sectional 48 at Tell City High School.
Last night in local college sports…USI Women’s Basketball failed to win a 3rd-straight game as they got beat at UT-Martin, 84-69. Madi Webb scored 15 points in the loss. The Screaming Eagles are 20-10 and 12-7 in the Ohio Valley Conference. They have 1 game left in the regular season and that is tomorrow at Tennessee State at 1:00 PM. Right now, USI is tied for 4th place with Arkansas Little Rock in the OVC Standings.
USI Men’s Basketball also lost at UT-Martin Thursday evening, 79-63. Jayland Randall had 15 points in the loss. The Screaming Eagles are 10-19 and 5-14 in the Ohio Valley Conference. They won’t make the conference tournament, so their final game of they year is tomorrow at Tennessee State at 3:30 PM.
In the NBA tonight…the Indiana Pacers are down south in Miami to take on the Heat at 7:00 PM. The Pacers are going for back-to-back wins as they are 33-24 on the season and have won 4 of their last 5 games.
