Posey County Sheriff’s Office officials confirm one person involved in a UTV crash Saturday at State Road 69 and Copperline Road is dead. The Posey County Sheriff's Office says crews were called to the scene of the crash around 3:45 p.m. Saturday. Posey County Sheriff Tom Lathan says multiple ambulances were called to the scene, along with a helicopter for medical evacuation. Latham says there are critical injuries involved, and the crash involved a passenger car and a UTV.

 

The Mt. Vernon Police Department posted on Facebook that they are joining forces across the nation and will commit to enforcing texting bans and reducing distracted-driving practices. It will start in April and the slogan is, “Put the Phone Away or Pay.” This effort comes during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Drivers will see increased law enforcement efforts, as officers will be stopping and ticketing anyone who is caught texting and driving. Violators of Indiana’s hands-free law could face a Class C infraction with fines of up to $500 and have points added to their license.

 

The Final 4 is set for Men’s College Basketball…and for the first time since 1980, it will involve the Purdue Boilermakers. Yesterday, Purdue took care of Tennessee 72-66. Zach Edey had 40 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Boilermakers. Purdue will get NC State on Saturday at 5:09 PM as NC State took down Duke yesterday, 76-64, The other game on Saturday in the Final 4 will feature UCONN against Alabama at 7:49 PM.

 

From Major League Baseball on Sunday…the St. Louis Cardinals fell out west in Los Angeles to the Dodgers in the series finale, 5-4. The Dodgers took 3-of-4 in the series. The Cardinals are 1-3 and will travel to San Diego tonight to begin a 3-game series with the Padres at 8:40 PM.

The Chicago Cubs got in the win column with a 9-5 victory in Texas against the Rangers. Chicago scored 4 runs in the 9th inning. The Cubs are 1-2 and have their home opener today at 1:20 PM against the Colorado Rockies.

In Cincinnati the Reds scored 3 runs in the 9th to top the Washington Nationals, 6-5. The Reds are 2-1 and will be in Philadelphia tonight at 5:40 PM to play the Phillies.

 

Coming up tonight in the NBA…the Indiana Pacers play host to the Brooklyn Nets at 6:00 PM. Indiana is 42-33 on the year and currently sits in 6th place in the Eastern Conference Standings.
