From High School Boys Basketball action over the weekend, the North Posey Vikings split their two games. North Posey lost against Southridge at home on Friday, 56-48 and then went to Perry Central on Saturday and cruised to a 71-45 victory. In the game on Saturday, Jackson Graff surpassed the 1,000 points mark in his career. The Vikings are now 15-4 on the year and will be home on Saturday to play Tell City at 7:00 PM.

The Mt. Vernon Wildcats Boys Basketball team played just one game this past weekend and they beat Boonville on the road, 52-45. Nicot Burnett paced the Wildcats with 19 points. Mt. Vernon improves to 11-9 on the season. They will be home against Mater Dei on Tuesday at 7:00 PM and then at Tecumseh on Friday at 7:30 PM.

Coming up tonight on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com it’s the Mt. Vernon Basketball Coaches Show at 6:00 PM live from United Fidelity Bank. Hear from Wildcats Head Coach, Joe Newcomb as Allen Buck hosts the show.

On Saturday, Ford Center in downtown Evansville hosted the IHSAA Wrestling Semi-State and both Mt. Vernon and North Posey had representatives. None of the representatives made it out of the Semi-State Round, but it was still a great season for North Posey’s Asa Spencer, Cody Fitts, and Brant Oakley...as well as Mt. Vernon’s Brendan Hubbard, Mason Suits, Jayden Stillwagoner, E.J. Rainey, Zack Buckley, and Colten Schneider. Schneider was the lone wrestler of the bunch to win his first-round match, but then lost in the ticket round.

Former North Posey Softball standout, Erin Hoehn made her college pitching debut over the weekend for Michigan. They played five games over the weekend in a classic in Tampa, Florida. Hoehn pitched in three of those games, totaling 4.2 innings. She went 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA as Hoehn allowed two runs on four hits, walked three, and struck out five on the weekend. Her Michigan team went 4-1 over the weekend with wins against Illinois State, Bethune-Cookman, #17 Florida, and Oregon State.

No local high school or college sports tonight, so from the NBA…the Indiana Pacers are on the road in Charlotte to battle the Hornets at 6:00 PM. The Pacers are looking for back-to-back wins as they are 30-24 on the year.
