In less than two weeks, Evansville Water and Sewer Utility customers might see an increase on their water bills. On April 1, EWSU will implement a water rate hike to pay for the construction of a new water treatment facility. Utility officials say an average customer who uses 5,000 gallons of water per month will see the water portion of their bill go up from $50.05 in 2023 to $53.15 in 2024. A few years ago, the IURC approved the EWSU’s plan to increase water rates in phases through 2026. EWSU Executive Director Vic Kelson says the filtration plant provides water to all of Vanderburgh County and surrounding areas in Posey, Gibson and Warrick counties.
