A 55-year-old man from Mt. Vernon will be spending more time behind bars after authorities say he wrote a letter to his alleged victim. Friday afternoon, Jorge Cesar Gonzalez was sentenced to 120 days in jail for attempting to violate a no contact order with a child sexual abuse victim. During the trial, the Court heard evidence that Gonzalez was facing charges of child molesting in Orange County and was ordered to have no contact with the victim. On June 13th, 2023, the prosecutor says Gonzalez wrote a letter to the victim and had his wife deliver the letter to the child’s therapist. Gonzalez will serve his sentence at the Posey County Jail.

 

North Posey High School has announced that tickets for their production of the show “Legally Blonde” are on sale starting today. The show will be March 13th-15th at 7:00 PM at the North Posey High School Auditorium. Adult tickets are 10 dollars and student tickets (K-12) at 5 dollars. Starting tomorrow, the Posey County Health Department is hosting free Community Clinics on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month. The location is the MSD of North Posey’s Ascension St. Vincent Tri-State Clinic from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The address is 4922 Hwy 165, Poseyville, Indiana. Services offered at the clinic include immunizations, vital sign checks, glucose monitoring, they will provide lice treatment kits, and various other testing as needed.

 

Tomorrow, postseason play gets underway for high school boys basketball teams across the state of Indiana. The Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball team plays their first Sectional game tomorrow night at 7:30 PM against Heritage Hills in the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Boonville High School. You will be able to hear the game on 106.7 FM WMVI and online at poseycountyradio.com. The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 12-12 record. The lost to Heritage Hills in the regular season back on December 17th at home in overtime, 62-57.

 

North Posey Boys Basketball will play their first Sectional game on Wednesday against Tell City at 5:30 PM. The Vikings play in the Class 2A Sectional 48 hosted by Tell City High School. North Posey went 11-11 in the regular season and just lost to Tell City on the road on February 22nd, 60-57. In local College Basketball on Sunday…the Evansville Purple Aces Men’s Basketball team lost their final game of the regular season at Illinois State, 62-53. Tanner Cuff led UE in scoring with 15 points. The Purple Aces went 8-12 in the conference play and finished in a 3-way tie for 8th place with Indiana State and Southern Illinois. Due to the tiebreakers, the Aces will be the 10 seed in this week’s conference tournament over in St. Louis. They will play the 7th seeded Murray State Racers on Thursday evening at 6:00 PM.

 

From the NBA on Sunday…the Indiana Pacers took care of the Chicago Bulls at home, 127-112. Aaron Nesmith scored a career-high 27 points in the win. The Pacers improve to 34-25 overall and will welcome the Houston Rockets tomorrow night at 6:00 PM.
