Two people are facing multiple drug charges following a search of a residence in Posey County. According to the Posey County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to a home on Country Homes Drive Thursday to serve an arrest warrant on 38-year-old Robert J. Dillard. Officials say while deputies were advising Dillard of the warrant, a woman staying at the residence came outside to give him a shirt. She was later identified as 24-year-old Amanda N. Moore. Deputies say they knew Moore also had an active warrant out of Vanderburgh County. Dillard then asked to be escorted inside the home so he could get bond money. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies saw drug paraphernalia with burnt white residue on the bedroom floor while escorting him inside. A search warrant was obtained, and deputies say a search of the residence turned up large amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana, along with scales, packaging materials and a handgun. Dillard and Moore were both arrested and taken to the Posey County Jail without further incident.
Several organizations in Posey County have teamed up to provide a new lifesaving resource for the community. The Posey County Health Department has partnered with the Mt. Vernon Fire Department, Black Township Fire Department, Sinnett Facility Services and the City of Mt. Vernon to purchase and install a SaveStation Tower at River Bend Park on the Mt. Vernon riverfront. The climate-controlled tower provides the public with 24-hour access to an automated external defibrillator, or A-E-D, while protecting the equipment from extreme temperatures and weather conditions. The tower will also contain a Stop the Bleed kit, giving residents another potentially lifesaving resource during emergencies involving severe bleeding. Officials say the SaveStation includes several security and emergency-response features. When the cabinet is opened, a photograph is taken and an audible alarm sounds. If the AED is removed from the cabinet, a notification is sent to dispatch, allowing first responders to be sent to the location to assist. Officials emphasize that AEDs are designed for use by members of the public, including people without medical training. Once activated, the device provides clear, step-by-step voice instructions to guide users through helping someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. Officials say the SaveStation Tower in Mt. Vernon is the first of its kind in the Tri-State area. They hope to expand the program throughout Posey County by adding additional SaveStation locations in the future.
