Governor Mike Braun says the first round of funding from the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative, or READI, has generated more than 675 million dollars in economic impact across Indiana. The results come from an evaluation by Purdue University’s Center for Regional Development and Indiana University’s Public Policy Institute. The report highlights strong participation from private investors, local development groups, and municipalities, which contributed significant matching funds. So far, the initiative has helped create an estimated 3,523 jobs statewide. It also outlines READI’s impact across Indiana’s regions, citing growth in talent attraction, tourism, and community development. Before January 6th, the program supported 405 projects, totaling nearly 400 million dollars in grant awards. Indiana’s 1.25 billion dollar READI program is designed to accelerate shovel-ready projects and revitalize communities, with state leaders expecting at least a four-to-one return in additional funding from public, private, and nonprofit partners.
