A man and woman are accused of stealing food from a Posey County Dollar General. Authorities say it happened last Thursday afternoon at the store on Deer Run Drive just inside the Posey County line. A report states the man and woman left the store without paying for baskets full of items. Officials say their investigation led them to a camper at nearby Rocky Falls Campground. The report states Samantha Burkholder and Jordan Haire admitted to taking food. Both are facing theft charges and several drug charges due to meth and narcotics being found inside their camper. Authorities say DCS was called in for the three children living in the camper.

United Way of Posey County posted on Facebook that they are selling Hawg n’ Sauce goodies for a fundraiser. Pick-up date and time is February 16th from 9:00 AM until Noon. The United Way of Posey County gets 40% back, so it’s a chance to help them and enjoy some great food at the same time. They encourage you to let them know your selection soon if interested.

If you’re looking for a way to help your community, the American Red Cross is looking for help. Red Cross leaders say house fires are on the rise, and they need volunteers to help the victims. Often times, the Red Cross is the agency that helps people find a place to stay if the damage puts them out of their home. The Red Cross will be hosting a one day “Zero to Hero Training” to train new volunteers. The training will be held on February 10th. The Evansville Purple Aces won their 2nd-straight game last night at home over Illinois-Chicago, 77-60. Yacine Toumi paced Evansville with 22 points, Tanner Cuff added 16 points off the bench, and Ben Humrichous collected 15 points. UE improves to 13-9 and 4-7 in the MVC. The Aces will travel to Valparaiso on Saturday at 3:00 PM.

#2 Purdue outlasted Northwestern at home in overtime, 105-96. Zach Edey had a big night again with 30 points and 15 rebounds. Lance Jones also had 26 points for the Boilermakers. They improve to 20-2 and 9-2 in the Big 10. Purdue plays at #6 Wisconsin on Sunday.

#10 Kentucky got beat at home by Florida in overtime, 94-91. Reed Sheppard had 24 points in the loss for the Cats as they drop to 15-5 on the year and 5-3 in the SEC. They welcome #5 Tennessee Saturday evening.

Coming up tonight in local high school basketball action…the Mt. Vernon Boys team will travel to Princeton for a 7:30 PM tipoff. The Wildcats are playing for a 3rd-straight win and they have won 6-of-7. Mt. Vernon is 10-7 on the season. The North Posey Boys Basketball team will host Pike Central tonight at 7:00 PM. The Vikings look to start a new winning streak after having their 5-game winning streak snapped last time out at Princeton. North Posey is 12-3 on the year. In local college sports this evening…both the USI Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams play at Tennessee Tech. The Women’s game begins at 5:30 PM and the Men’s game will follow at 7:30 PM. USI Women’s Basketball will look to win a 10th-straight game. They are 13-5 and 8-0 in the OVC. USI Men’s Basketball will be trying to end a 5-game losing streak as they sit at 5-16 overall and 2-6 in the OVC.

From the NBA tonight…the Indiana Pacers take on the Knicks in New York at 6:30 PM. The Pacers are 27-21 which is currently good enough for 6th place in the Eastern Conference standings
