North Posey Boys Basketball won their First Round Sectional game last night against Tell City, 51-28. The Vikings run their record to 12-11 and advance to the Semi-Finals of the Class 2A Sectional 48 at Tell City High School. North Posey will play Forest Park tomorrow evening at 7:00 PM. Forest Park is 16-6 overall and beat the Vikings in the regular season back on January 18th, 59-48. Mt. Vernon Boys Basketball will also be playing in the Semi-Final Round of the Class 3A Sectional 32 at Boonville High School on Friday night. The Wildcats won their First-Round game on Tuesday as they beat Heritage Hills, 55-46. The Wildcats are 13-12 on the season. They will play Memorial tomorrow night at 7:30 pm. Posey County Solid Waste District says that their Tox-Away Days starts again today from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Mt. Vernon Recycle Center. It is located on Lower New Harmony Road in Mt. Vernon. This is a chance for the community to bring in all their hazardous waste. Tox-Away Day will continue the first Thursday of every month through December.
Evansville Men’s Basketball plays their Missouri Valley Conference Tournament First-Round game tonight over in St. Louis at 6:00 PM against Murray State. UE is the 10 seed, and the Racers are the 7 seed. The Purple Aces finished with an 8-12 conference mark and in a 3-way tie for 8th place with Indiana State and Southern Illinois. Due to tiebreakers, the Aces slipped to the 10 seed. Evansville and Murray State split their two games against each other in the regular season. Murray State won at home on December 3rd, 63-61 and UE won at home on January 29th, 78-74.
Evansville Men’s Basketball had a handful of players receive recognition from the Missouri Valley Conference. Connor Turnbull was named the MVC Defensive Player of the Year, Tayshawn Comer earned 2nd-Team All-Conference, Gabriel Pozzato laned on the All-Freshman Team, and Cam Haffner was named to the MVC Most Improved Team.
In the NBA this evening…the Indiana Pacers start a 3-game road trip in Atlanta against the Hawks at 6:30 PM. The Pacers are in search of their 3rd-straight win as their record sits at 35-25.
