Two Posey County students have been awarded Gray Farms Presidents Scholarships through the Community Foundation of Southwest Indiana. Haven Barton of Poseyville and Adelyn Gamblin of Mount Vernon each received a one-thousand-dollar scholarship through the annual program, which honors past presidents of the Gray Family business interests. Barton plans to attend DePauw University this fall to study biology, with the goal of helping people better understand their health and prevent illness. Gamblin will attend Purdue University, where she plans to major in Professional Flight. She says she hopes to become a leader dedicated to accountability, teamwork, and service to her community and country. The Gray Farms Presidents Scholarship is funded through an endowment established by Gray Family heirs and friends to support students throughout Southwest Indiana.

Classic car owners in Indiana have a chance to put a piece of history back on the road. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is highlighting its Authentic Model Year License Plate Program as part of Collector Car Appreciation Day. The program allows owners of eligible historic vehicles to display an original Indiana license plate from the same year the vehicle was built instead of a standard historic plate. That means an old plate picked up at a garage sale, flea market, antique store, or online could qualify, if it meets BMV standards. To be eligible, vehicles must be at least 25 years old and registered as historic. The authentic plate must also be inspected and approved by the BMV before it can be used. Qualifying plates must be metal, in good condition, legible, free of major rust or damage, and match the design issued for that model year. More information is available on the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles website.
