Following a night of back-to-back tornado warnings and severe weather on Sunday, officials are now getting a clearer picture of the damage left behind across the Tri-State. Late Monday night, the National Weather Service released updated information showing at least 13 tornadoes have been confirmed so far from Sunday’s storms. Survey teams remain in the field and are expected to continue assessing additional damage through Tuesday and possibly later this week. So far, the National Weather Service has confirmed two EF-1 tornadoes in Wayne County, Illinois. In Warrick County, Indiana, crews identified four EF-1 tornadoes and one EF-0 tornado, including damage in Newburgh, near Chandler, and near Lynnville. Gibson County saw one EF-2 tornado near Fort Branch and an EF-1 tornado near Mackey. Additional tornadoes were confirmed in Dale and Grandview, Indiana, as well as Hancock County, Kentucky. Officials say the tornado near Fort Branch was the strongest in the area, carving an 11.5-mile path with peak winds estimated at 115 miles per hour. Teams from local emergency management agencies, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, and the National Weather Service are continuing to map storm tracks and assess damage to help streamline recovery efforts. According to the National Weather Service, Newburgh experienced the most significant structural damage. Residents affected by the storms can call the 2-1-1 Hotline to report property damage and connect with available recovery resources.

Warrick County Commissioners, in coordination with the Warrick County Emergency Management Agency, have officially declared a Local Disaster Emergency. County officials say the declaration opens the door for all available response and recovery efforts and allows Warrick County to request additional assistance from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security if needed. The goal is to ensure affected residents receive help and resources as quickly as possible. Damage assessment teams will be out across the county today evaluating storm impacts. Officials stress that residents who have experienced damage should report it through Indiana 211. Doing so helps ensure their property is included in assessment efforts and allow recovery teams to better identify areas in need of assistance. County leaders say gathering accurate damage reports is a critical step in securing resources and helping the community recover from Sunday night's severe weather.
