The IHSAA Class 2A Baseball Semi-State Schedule has been released and the North Posey Vikings will take on Greencastle this Saturday morning at 10:00 AM central time for the semi-final. The game will be played at Plainfield High School. If the Vikings win their first game, they will then play in the championship game at 7:00 PM Saturday night. If you can't make it to the game on Saturday, Posey County Radio will have you covered on 98.9 FM WPIW and online at NorthPoseyRadio.com.  

 

The Posey County Solid Waste District will have their next Tox-Away Day is coming up this Thursday from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. This will take place at the Mount Vernon Recycling Center on Lower Mount Vernon Road. This opportunity allows you a chance to get rid of household chemicals, non latex paints, herbicides, insecticides, non alkaline batteries and pool chemicals safely. If you have any questions about what they will accept, contact the Solid Waste District office at 812-838-1613.

 

There are a few events coming up in Posey County this weekend.

One event on Saturday in New Harmony will be the 22nd Annual Golden Raintree Antique show and cruise in. There will be vendors located at the gymnasium on Main Street from 9-5 on Saturday and 9-4 on Sunday for the antique show. As for the cruise in, we have still not received any detail on that part of the event yet.

And coming up Saturday evening at Riverbend Park in Mount Vernon will be the next Movies Under The Stars. The movie this Saturday will be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. This time it is being sponsored by the Mount Vernon Garden Club. Admission is free. Just bring your lawn chairs and blankets. The movie will start at dark.

 

The University of Evansville’s Cross Country and Track and Field Director, Brooks LeCompte, has resigned. This comes almost two months after he was put on administrative leave while the university investigated allegations made against him. The University of Evansville never revealed what those allegations were. Chief Communications Officer, Noah Alatza says no further details about his resignation will be released.

 

Evansville Baseball won a Regional on Monday for the first time in program history. They won the Greenville Regional by defeating #16 East Carolina on Monday, 6-5. The Purple Aces are now just two wins away from Omaha and the College World Series, but the next step is an enormous one. Evansville will travel to Knoxville this weekend for a best-of-three series against the #1 team in College Baseball, the Tennessee Volunteers. The Aces are the only #4 Seed to advance to a Super Regional this year and the 9th team ever to do it. The series with Tennessee begins at 2:00 PM Central Time on Friday and Game Two will be on Saturday at 10:00 AM Central Time. The “If Necessary” game would be played Sunday evening at 5:00 PM Central Time.

 

From Major League Baseball last night…the St. Louis Cardinals lost in Houston to the Astros, 8-5. The Redbirds drop to 28-31 on the season and will try to avoid a 3-game sweep in Houston today at 1:10 PM.

The Chicago Cubs edged the Chicago White Sox at home, 7-6. The Cubs scored a pair of runs in the 8th inning to take the lead and eventually win. The Cubs are now 30-31 and the White Sox slip to 15-46. That series continues this evening at 7:05 PM.

The Cincinnati Reds were able to pick up a victory in Colorado over the Rockies, 4-1. Cincy is now 28-33 on the season. The two teams wrap up their series today at 2:10 PM.
