Oakland City University is suspending its undergraduate programs and laying off employees at the end of the month. OCU spokesperson Todd Mosby says the layoffs will take effect May 31st as the university restructures operations. Students will receive guidance and information on their next steps as those plans move forward. Mosby says the university will continue offering graduate-level programs and hopes to resume undergraduate classes during the 2027-28 academic year. The announcement comes as more than 100 employees say they still have not received their most recent paycheck. Last week, university administrators met with employees and said the school planned to remain open. Mosby also announced OCU had finalized what he called a “strategic partnership” aimed at keeping operations running. However, he declined to provide details, saying the agreement had not yet been finalized in writing.
