Today is election day and the polls are going to be open until 6:00 PM tonight.

Posey County Residents can vote today at any of the following locations.

In Mount Vernon:

Immanuel Church of Christ, 5812 Ford Rd

Mt. Vernon Community Church, 1800 W. 4th St

Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 1717 N. Main St.

In New Harmony:

Holy Angels Community Center, 423 South St

Posey County Community Center, 111 Harmony Township Rd

In Poseyville:

Poseyville Community Center, 60 N. Church St.

In Cynthiana:

Cynthiana Community Center, 10456 Mulkey Rd.

In Wadesville:

Wadesville Fire Department, 4200 Princeton St.

In St Phillips:

St. Peter United Methodist Church, 2800 St. Philip Rd. S

In St Wendel:

Knights of St. John, 11714 Winery Rd

All polling locations are open until 6:00 PM tonight for voting. Also, remember if you were contacted by the Posey County Clerks office about your absentee ballot having an issue, you have until 6:00 PM to turn in a corrected ballot.

 

After work completed yesterday on the water delivery system in the northern part of the county, the German Township Water District placed a boil order for the areas around Mary Anderson Road and Highway 66, North the the town of Wadesville and West to New Harmony Springfield Rd and into Stewartsville. During repairs of the water delivery system, the water pressure dropped below the mandated 20 PSI level. Although the chance of contamination is unlikely, it is recommended that all customers using the water for cooking or drinking boil the water for five minutes before using. Last night around 8:00 PM the Black township fire and rescue as well as the new harmony fire department were on the scene of a brush fire. The fire took place on Springfield Road. No further updates have been provided and we will fill you in as they become available.

 

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is reminding homeowners to get your chimneys cleaned and inspected by professionals heading into the Winter season. According to statistics, there are over 25,000 chimney fires per year in the united states. Should you ever encounter a chimney fire, it is recommended that you evacuate the house, call the fire department, close the doors and dampers to the fire place if possible, spray your roof with water and wait for the fire department to get on site.

 

If you were waiting up last night for the Powerball Jackpot numbers to be revealed, you know that the drawing was announced to be delayed due to technical difficulties. The Powerball office said to check their website later for the numbers but did not say how long the technical difficulties would take to correct. The Jackpot last night was an estimated 1.9 billion dollars, the largest in the history of the lottery. The estimated jackpot cash value was at 929.1 million dollars.

 

Sports:

The David Ragland era at the University of Evansville started off with a victory last night at Miami (Ohio) as the Purple Aces Men's Basketball team defeated the RedHawks, 78-74. Kenny Strawbridge Jr led the way with 23 points. Evansville will play at Saint Louis on Saturday at 6:00 PM. 

USI Men's Basketball played their first ever game as a Division One team at Missouri last night and their comeback fell short, 98-91. Jelani Simmons paced the Screaming Eagles with 23 points. USI Men's Basketball plays their home opener on Sunday against the Southern Illinois Salukis at 3:00 PM. 

Indiana Men's Basketball whipped Morehead State at home last night, 88-53. The Hoosiers outscored Morehead State in the 2nd half, 47-24. Trayce Jackon Davis poured in 15 points. IU is home against Bethune-Cookman on Thursday at 7:30 PM.

On the Women's side of things, UE topped Eastern Kentucky on the road, 89-81. Myia Clark had 25 points for the Purple Aces. 

USI Women's Basketball crushed Oakland City in their opener at home, 87-39. 

From the NBA last night the young Indiana Pacers continue to play well as they defeat the New Orleans Pelicans at home, 129-122. It was a big night from Myles Turner with 37 points and 12 rebounds. The Pacers have won 4-of-5 to improve to 5-5. They are home against Denver on Wednesday at 6:00 PM.
