The Posey County Community Foundation posted on Facebook that the MSD of Mt. Vernon recently received a $3,000 grant from the Posey County Community Foundation through the Celebrating 30 Years of Giving Grant Program. The grant will provide general support to the three elementary schools within the MSD of Mt. Vernon School District, West, Marrs, and Farmersville.

 

Authorities are conducting a death investigation in Gibson County. A woman was found dead in a wooded area near the Diplomat Motel on State Road 57 in Oakland City. Multiple agencies have been at the scene investigating, including the Indiana State Police, Gibson County Sheriff's Office, Oakland City PD, and the FBI. Few details on the investigation are available right now, and police are asking anyone who might have information on the death to come forward.

 

St. Louis Cardinals Baseball begins tomorrow afternoon as the Redbirds open the regular season at home against the Toronto Blue Jays at 3:10 PM. Evansville Purple Aces 5th-year outfielder, Eric Roberts was named the Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week after belting four home runs in four UE victories last week. Roberts homered in three of the Aces four games last week. In the three-game MVC series at Missouri State, he hit .462 (6-for-13) with a double, three home runs, five runs scored, and nine RBI’s. Evansville swept the defending MVC Tournament Champions in the three-game series in Springfield. Aces Baseball is 16-7 on the season and returns home tonight for a non-conference midweek game against SEMO at 6:00 PM. UE is going for a 10th-straight win for the first time since 2006.

 

Sports: 

- North Posey Baseball beat South Knox, 5-4.

- North Posey Softball won at home against Henderson County, 2-1. 

- USI Baseball (7-18) lost a tough one at Ball State, 7-6 in 11 innings. It's now 9-straight losses for the Screaming Eagles. 

- Evansville Softball (15-16) got beat in both of their games at Lindenwood, 7-6 and 4-3. The Purple Aces have dropped 7-straight games.
