Posey County Emergency Management posted on Facebook yesterday that due to a problem at the Mt. Vernon Water Plant with Turbidity levels in the water, all Mt. Vernon water users are now under a boil order until further notice. Any concerns, contact the Mt. Vernon Water Department.

 

It’s Homecoming week for North Posey Football as the 4-1 Vikings play host to 5-0 Tecumseh this Friday night. Over the course of the next several days, there will be events tied to Homecoming week at North Posey. Tonight at 7:00 PM is the Powder Puff Football game at the football field. You can head out and watch the Freshman take on the Seniors. Tomorrow, there will be tailgating at the Boys and Girls soccer games. It is bring your own chairs, food, and games as nothing will be provided. The tailgating will start anytime after 4:30 PM. On Friday, the Homecoming Parade will start at 6:15 PM, Homecoming Ceremony at 6:40 PM, and once again the North Posey against Tecumseh game kicks off at 7:00 PM. The Homecoming floats will also be in the Autumnfest Parade on Saturday at 3:00 PM.

 

Mt. Vernon Football’s Nicot Burnett has been nominated for the Week 5 News 25 Home Team Friday MVP! The Junior QB had an incredible game last Friday in the Wildcats 42-7 victory at Forest Park. Burnett threw for 5 Touchdowns, ran for a Touchdown, and picked off a pass on defense. Wildcat fans can vote for Nicot Burnett at tristatehomepage.com.

 

There is a second Mt. Vernon Football player up for a weekly award and that is Junior Wide Receiver, Jackson Clowers. Clowers has been nominated for the Week 5 Evansville Courier and Press Player of the Week. He caught 8 passes for 137 yards and 3 touchdowns. On defense, Clowers also tallied an interception last Friday. Mt. Vernon fans can vote for Jackson Clowers at courierpress.com.

 

Yesterday, the updated AP Polls were released for High School Football ahead of Week 6 this Friday. In Class 5A, Castle is 6th and North is 13th. Class 4A has Reitz 9th and Memorial 11th. Class 3A has several tri-state teams with Gibson Southern 2nd, Southridge 12th, Vincennes 15th, and Mt. Vernon 18th. Class 2A features Mater Dei 5th and North Posey 13th. In Class 1A, Tecumseh is 9th.

 

Local Sports From Last Night:

- Mt. Vernon Volleyball won in straight-sets at Bosse (25-11, 25-14, 25-13). Wildcats improve to 11-5 on the year.

- Mt. Vernon Boys Soccer earned a 6-0 win at North Posey. 

- Mt. Vernon Girls Soccer pulled out a 5-4 victory at Boonville to improve to 7-4. 

- North Posey Volleyball took care of Southridge on the road in straight-set. The Vikings are now 15-4 on the season. 

- North Posey Girls Soccer defeated Pike Central at home 1-0. With the win, North Posey improves to 3-7.
