North Posey High School will be looking for a new Boys Varsity Basketball Coach, as Rusty Seymour announced on Wednesday that he is stepping down. Coach Seymour spent 5 years at North Posey as the Boys Varsity Head Coach and compiled a 71-44 record.
Deaconess Clinic EXPRESS Mt. Vernon is moving to a new location. The current location at 813 East 4th Street in Mt. Vernon will close after business hours on Friday, May 16th, and join Deaconess Clinic Urgent Care West. This will be on Evansville’s westside when they re-open on Monday, May 19th. This new location will offer expanded services in addition to adult and pediatric urgent care services, including on-site X-ray, occupational medicine and extended hours of 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM seven days a week.
The MSD of Mt. Vernon is inviting all MSD of Mt. Vernon families to a Community Townhall with Dr. Stephanie Stewart and other school district leaders this evening. The Community Townhall will take place from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM at 601 Main Street in Mt. Vernon. This will be a chance to get to know the new superintendent and share your thoughts on a wide variety of topics.
On Tuesday, a grand opening and ribbon cutting was held at the Indiana Port of Mount Vernon. Officials gathered to celebrate the new railroad. It was built in partnership between Ports of Indiana and OmniTRAX. The Port of Indiana Mount Vernon is part of a complex system that moves goods through the region. Now, with the addition of a railroad, officials are hoping to increase that impact. Officials with the new operator, OmniTRAX, agree. The company moves a plethora of goods including industrial and agricultural products. Before the ribbon cutting, local elementary students visited the port to see the trains.
Last night North Posey Baseball lost at Harrison, 12-6. Vikings Baseball now sits at 7-4 on the year. They welcome Southridge tonight at 5:30 PM.
North Posey Softball thumped Princeton at home, 17-1 in 5 innings. Vikings Softball improves to 7-4 on the season.
Mt. Vernon Softball got beat at Central, 12-0 in 5 innings. Wildcats Softball falls to 3-5 overall.
Mt. Vernon Baseball did not play last night, but they travel to Heritage Hills this evening at 5:30 PM. Wildcats Baseball is 1-8.
From Major League Baseball on Wednesday…the St. Louis Cardinals lost their series finale in Atlanta to the Braves, 4-1. The Cardinals completed a 7-game road trip with a 1-6 record, and they are now 10-15 on the season. St. Louis is off today, before starting a 3-game home weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers tomorrow night.
The Chicago Cubs clipped the Los Angeles Dodgers at home, 7-6. The Cubs improve to 16-10 and will enjoy this Thursday off. They open a 3-game series at home with the Philadelphia Phillies tomorrow afternoon.
The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Marlins in Miami, 5-2. The Reds record runs to 12-13. Cincinnati is off today, before playing a 3-game series this weekend in Colorado against the Rockies. That series begins tomorrow evening.
